World TB Day 2021
24 March is World TB Day.
This is especially important in Africa where TB continues to be a major cause of death, illness and disability.
As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people diagnosed and treated for TB has diminished considerably through 2020, with many going undiagnosed and untreated. Yet data shows that people with TB are at higher risk of developing severe COVID disease.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of respiratory infections globally. Let us not forget TB, which still causes more than 1.5 million deaths and 10 million cases each year, despite being treatable and preventable.
