MECOR Africa is proud to announce that the Small Grant Awards 2025 are open, an opportunity designed to support and foster innovative research projects among our attendees. This initiative underscores our commitment to advancing respiratory health knowledge and practice across the African continent by empowering early-career researchers with the resources they need.

Grant Overview: Fuelling Your Research Ambitions
The MECOR Africa Small Grant Awards 2025 offer funding to eligible researchers to conduct research projects that align with the research priorities of the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS) and MECOR. We encourage proposals that are not only scientifically sound but also demonstrate a clear potential for real-world impact and contribute to knowledge in respiratory health relevant to the African context.

Key Details:

This grant is specifically tailored to support research projects that may have originated or been developed during the MECOR Africa course, providing a direct pathway from theoretical learning to practical application.

Eligibility: 

  • Completed MECOR Africa Level in 2025: Applicants must have successfully completed a level of the MECOR Africa program in the current year, 2025. This ensures that candidates possess the foundational knowledge and skills imparted by our program.

  • No Recent MECOR Small Grant: Applicants must not have received a MECOR small grant in the past two years. This criterion is in place to allow for a broader distribution of funding opportunities among our alumni network.

  • Project Alignment with PATSMECOR Research Priorities: The proposed research project must align with the established research priorities of the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS) and MECOR. This ensures that funded projects contribute to strategic areas of need and impact within respiratory health in Africa.
