ATS-PATS MECOR 2025 Kenya

We are pleased to announce the application for the Pan African Thoracic Society – Methods in Epidemiologic, Clinical and Operations Research (PATS-MECOR) 2025 is now opened.

The ATS-PATS MECOR 2025 course will be held from 01 to 05 September 2025 in Brackenhurst, Kenya.

The ATS-PATS MECOR course is a collaborative initiative between the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS). This course is part of the global MECOR (Methods in Epidemiologic, Clinical, and Operations Research) Program, which aims to build research capacity in low- and middle-income countries.

Designed for pulmonary clinicians, investigators, and academicians, the course provides rigorous training in clinical and epidemiological research methods. The goal is to empower local and regional health professionals to conduct high-quality research that addresses critical respiratory health challenges and improves patient outcomes across Africa.

Level 1: Measuring the Burden of Disease – For health professionals with an interest in Respiratory Medicine, and who wish to improve their clinical research and investigation. No prior experience of research is needed.

Level 2: Advanced Clinical Research Methods – For past attendees who have completed a Level 1 course.

Level 3: Further research skills, grant and paper writing – To be accepted on to level 3 applicants must have completed level 2 and be able to demonstrate how previous PATS MECOR courses have advanced their research career.
