The PATS & SATS Congress 2018 was successfully held at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa from 12-15 April 2018.
Over 400 delegates participated in the exciting programme which featured content on adult and paediatric pulmonology, thoracic surgery and physiotherapy. Various topics were covered in depth in the pre and post-congress skills building workshops. Speakers expertly shared research from across the continent and proposed solutions to some of the biggest respiratory challenges. Delegates also had the opportunity to critically discuss these issues, network and share ideas on how to improve lung health on the continent.
A highlight of the congress was the participation of 39 Young African Investigators who were sponsored by the Congress. These attendees were funded for registration, accommodation and travel from numerous African countries. Their attendance was made possible by support from the National Research Foundation of South Africa (Grant Number 111933) and The International Multidisciplinary Programme to Address Lung Health and TB in Africa.
We are grateful to the Scientific Committee, event organiser, invited speakers, and all sponsors and supporters that made this Congress a success.
