Call for applications: MECOR Africa Small Grant Awards 2026, supported by the CHIESI Foundation

MECOR Africa is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 MECOR Africa Small Grant Awards, an initiative designed to support and encourage innovative respiratory health research among participants of the 2026 MECOR Africa Training Programme.

Supported by the CHIESI Foundation, this initiative aims to empower early-career researchers by providing financial support to translate research ideas developed or refined during the MECOR Africa course into practical research projects.

Through this initiative, MECOR Africa and the PATS aim to strengthen respiratory research capacity across Africa and encourage locally relevant research that contributes to improving respiratory health on the continent.

Grant Overview: Turning Research Ideas into Impact

The Small Grant Awards provide funding for scientifically sound research projects aligned with the research priorities of PATS and MECOR. Proposals should demonstrate relevance to the African context and the potential to generate meaningful evidence that can inform respiratory health practice, policy and future research.

• Award amount: USD 2,000 per successful applicant.
• Number of awards: Four (4).
• Application deadline: Sunday, 22 November 2026.

Who Should Apply?

All participants of the 2026 MECOR Africa Training Programme (Level 1, 2 and 3) who have developed or refined a research idea during the course are encouraged to apply.

Proposals should demonstrate scientific merit, feasibility, innovation and potential impact on respiratory health in Africa.
