BTS-PATS Travel Fellowship

In 2022, The British Thoracic Society Global Health Group in partnership with the Pan African Thoracic Society had successfully launched a programme of placements, which provides UK and African colleagues with an opportunity to visit a host hospital coupled with attendance at either the BTS or PATS annual conferences each year.

This opportunity is for PATS MECOR level 3 graduates to spend 2 weeks at a host hospital in the UK ending in attendance at the BTS Winter Meeting for the year. The successful applicants will be experts on fields on: either paediatric respiratory medicine, asthma/COPD, complex lung disease, lung cancer, or general respiratory/pleural interventions. The BTS will cover travel, accommodation and subsistence costs and the BTS Winter Meeting registration fees. The BTS will convene a meeting of the successful applicants and their hosts at the Winter Meeting for experiences and learning to be shared. Successful applicants will be asked to provide a short report about their placement for the BTS and work together to write this up for the Journal of the Pan African Thoracic Society.
